A landlord’s gas safety certificate, also referred to as the landlord’s gas safety record, is required by law to be held for all rental accommodation in the UK where there are gas appliances present. The requirement is enshrined in the Gas Safety Regulations 1998.
A gas check involves a Gas Safe registered heating engineer assessing the safety of your appliances and checking that the system is working as it should. They will check: Ventilation passages are not blocked and are in fully working order. As well as that the safety devices are operating efficiently, including a visual inspection of pipework and a tightness test to confirm there aren’t any gas leaks.
